Marquee Leads MSL into the Digital World

The pair of PM5Ds is working at front-of-house and stage monitors for Jools Holland, who has begun his regular summer season of around 40 shows, and will commence a full production tour in the autumn. “He will be the primary user, but these desks will make it an awful lot easier for us when we have to accommodate other bands,” says MSL's Andy Salmon.
The Yamaha digital mixers replace seven-year-old analogue consoles which, while still giving good service, looked big and heavy by contemporary standards. MSL spent about a year researching the options, before taking up the PM5Ds on advice from Andy Huffer at Marquee Audio.
“The Yamaha PM5Ds are the perfect user-friendly board for the average engineer,” says Andy Salmon. “The PM1D appeals to the more experienced guys who make use of all of its extensive feature set, and it is priced accordingly. However, the PM5D actually sounds better and Yamaha has very cleverly brought this desk into the budget of mid-size PA companies like ourselves. Apart from being lighter and more economical on truck space, these consoles do everything we want and more besides, in fact we've yet to find the limitations.”
