Top Industry Support for TEC Awards

Nearly three months before the 21st Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, 34 leading companies in the professional audio and technology industries have signed on to sponsor the Mix Foundation’s flagship event, honouring outstanding achievement in professional audio production and product innovation. The 2005 TEC Awards will be presented Saturday, 8th October, 2005 at the New York Marriott Marquis, on the second night of the 119th Audio Engineering Society Convention.

   AMD (Advanced Micro Devices), microprocessor manufacturer and digital technology leader, will again sponsor the 16 categories of Technical awards; and Gibson Guitar Corporation, one of the world's premiere manufacturers of guitars and other instruments, is sponsoring the Les Paul Award for the seventh consecutive year. Other returning Platinum sponsors include: Harman Pro Group, encompassing many of the industry's most respected brands of high-end audio products; founding sponsor Mix magazine, the leading trade publication covering professional recording and sound production; and Shure Inc., one of the world's largest manufacturers of microphones and audio electronics.

   First-time Platinum sponsors include American Music and Sound, comprising console manufacturer Allen & Heath and signal processing innovator Focusrite; Digidesign, manufacturer of perhaps the best known digital audio systems including ProTools|HD; and the Producers & Engineers Wing of the Recording Academy, a group of more than 6,000 recording professionals dedicated to a range of issues concerned with the craft of recorded music and the development of its technologies.

   Gold sponsors include Audio-Technica, Electro-Voice, Ex’pression College for Digital Arts, Fairlight, Guitar Center, Loud Technologies (Mackie/EAW), Meyer Sound, MOTU, RØDE Microphones, Sennheiser, Solid State Logic, TC Group, Universal Audio and Yamaha Corporation.

   Completing this year's lineup are Silver sponsors Clair Brothers/Showco, Dolby Laboratories, L-Acoustics, TASCAM and Trident-Oram Pro Audio; and Bronze sponsors, Apogee Electronics, Aviom, Inc., Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences (sponsor of the 2005 TECnology Hall of Fame), Garritan Libraries, PreSonus, Skywalker Sound and Telefunken North America.    Proceeds from the awards ceremony are donated to organizations working for the prevention of noise-induced hearing loss, and to numerous scholarship programs for students of the audio arts and sciences. To date, the Mix Foundation has contributed more than a half-million dollars to these worthwhile causes.
