ProHD from JVC Showcased in Central London

Derek Morgan, managing director at PEC was excited by the news that production units would soon be available. “We wanted to do an event as soon as possible and set a date to invite our key customers. We pride ourselves on being able to bring the latest equipment to our customers and managed to get the product in front of people before anyone else. On the day, we immediately took an order for a GY-HD100E HD camcorder from a commissioned filmmaker whose particular requirement is for 24frame progressive (24P) that uniquely the GY-HD100E provides at this price point.

“Essentially our customers are very enthusiastic about the HDV format and the GY-HD100E camcorder. I believe that the main selling points are that the camcorder offers interchangeable lens capability and it is shoulder mounted. “As soon as we have stock, we believe that these HD camcorders will do very well with our London customers,” adds Morgan.

The compact GY-HD100E camcorder offers both DV and HDV recording and also includes mechanical stops on the zoom, focus & iris controls, twin XLRs and camera set-up positions memorised on a transferable SD memory card. It is ideal for a standard definition production environment and can be used also to provide high definition footage. The BR-HD50E recorder / player is the perfect accompaniment to the camcorder and has the versatility to operate as a source deck for an NLE system, as a tape archiving recorder and, with its HDMI port, as a HD presentation deck.

The DT-V monitor range (10-inch , 17-inch and 19-inch screen-sizes) are cost effective and compact making them ideal for high-end users whose requirements are to monitor the output of HD SDI and SDI signals accurately, flexibly and affordably. The monitors can handle 16:9 and 4:3 formats.

John Carpenter, general manager sales and marketing at JVC Professional Europe Ltd states: “It’s really very encouraging to see the level of interest in the new ProHD products that has been generated from the PEC Video Ltd event, one of our key London based dealers. It clearly reinforces the high amount of interest there is in the market place for programme makers looking for flexible and cost effective solutions for HD and SD recordings.”

JVC will be exhibiting the ProHD range at IBC in Amsterdam on stand 8.210 between 9 – 13 September 2005.
