TV Indies Business Development Scheme Launched
A new scheme offering independent television production companies the chance to maximise their growth and business potential has been launched today by Skillset, the Sector Skills Council. The year long Skillset Indie Business Development Scheme will give 45 companies a tailored package of support to overhaul their businesses including business planning consultancy and advice and training bursaries for staff, and could include other opportunities such as time with industry mentors; networking events, and workshops on financing, legal affairs, marketing and management.
Dinah Caine, chief executive of Skillset, said: “This initiative gives indies a free business diagnostic by expert business consultants. It’s an opportunity to look at where a company is going right or wrong and provides the tools and support to expand on the successes and address any of the negatives. In such a fast paced industry many small companies focus on one commission to the next but with such intense competition lack of long term planning can have serious consequences for a businesses bottom line. This scheme is helping indies look to the future and capitalise on their full potential.”
The Skillset Indie Business Development Scheme is funded by the European Social Fund and industry investment via Skillset, with additional support from the Equal Community Initiative Programme and the Independent Production Training Fund.
For an application pack contact Paula Reardon on 020 7520 5779 or email: paular@skillset.org The closing date is 5pm on 30th September 2005.
