XTA DP428 Provides Swiss Precision
Ensuring that audiences get the full dramatic effect - but local residents do not - XTA’s new DP428 is an essential part of a new open air cinema in Zurich, Switzerland.
The DP428 was supplied by Swiss sales and installation company Caduff Tontechnik to outdoor cinema specialist Cinerent AG Switzerland, which has opened installations in locations as diverse as Bern (Switzerland), Düsseldorf (Germany), Lisbon (Portugal), Pusan (South Korea), Sydney (Australia), Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
Caduff Tontechnik was founded in 1997 and has used XTA equipment from the beginning, as company founder Georg Caduff notes: “The first XTA product we used was a DP226 in 1997. Since then we have tried a lot of other manufacturers products, but we have always come back to XTA. We also use C2 compressors and are very happy with XTA equipment.”
The DP428 has been employed to control the sound system at the Zurich open-air cinema. Precise control of the volume at the site is vital, because the cinema’s audiences need to experience the full dramatic effect of a film’s soundtrack. However, there are residential areas very close to the cinema, so the system has to be very accurately managed.
The DP428 is controlling an Adamson PA, comprising Spektrik L-C-R clusters, B218 subs and CB1 cabinets for full surround sound.
“We really like the DP428 because of its sound quality and reliability,” Caduff continues. “It has extremely good limiters, which are vital to the installation. And it is just as easy to handle as all the other products from XTA.”
