XTA’s DP428 Tastes the Outdoor Life
XTA’s brand new DP428 processor enjoyed the outdoor life at this summer, at the heart of a Renkus-Heinz PA system used at an open air event in leafy Surrey.
The performance by the North Downs Orchestra was one of a series of outdoor summer performances at the National Trust property of Polesden Lacey, near Dorking. The Polesden Lacey Festival, as its known, has been running since 1949 and in its current form since the early 1980s, since when sound contractor RG Jones has fulfilled the event’s sound reinforcement needs.
This year, the company’s Graham McGarrick used a Renkus Heinz line array system with 150 degree dispersion and an XTA DP428 loudspeaker management system, guaranteeing maximum sound quality. Graham has been working on the Polesden Lacey Festival for the last six years and this year’s combination of sound gear ensured that the event enjoyed the best audio coverage so far achieved.
“With all the previous systems we’ve used, there were always areas that weren’t properly covered. But this system appeared to give genuine 150 degree coverage and also provided a much more even sound across the site, without the usual comb filtering,” he says.
Being the first time that he’d used the DP428, he added: “I haven’t had chance to use it fully yet, but already I love the fact that, as with all XTA products, when you put it on mute it actually mutes!
