DPA Microphones Help Royal Rangers Come Over Loud and Clear
The annual German meeting of the Royal Rangers - a Christian Pathfinder organisation originally founded in the USA - was held in late summer in Neufrankenroda, near Gotha. More than 10,000 young people aged between eight and 15 joined together to spend the week under canvas at the Bundescamp (summer camp) making it one of the biggest Christian youth events in Germany and the largest Royal Rangers event held anywhere in the world in the ministry’s 43-year-history.
This year the Royal Rangers erected a 10,000-seat amphitheatre to resemble the Rome Coliseum, where performances were staged during four nights of the summer camp. A theatre piece, Under the Sun of Kosmopolis, was written especially for the event and was performed by young amateur actors. The artists were equipped with 17 DPA 4065 omnidirectional and six 4088 cardioid headband microphones which were used in conjunction with a 24-channel wireless system.
The DPA microphones, supplied by German distributor Mega Audio, were chosen since the technical director Florian Wierscher wanted to take advantage of the best possible technology.
"Bearing in mind that our performing artists were not professionals, we were looking for the best technical equipment to ensure that everyone in the amphitheatre could understand every word which was spoken," he says. "In my opinion, the intelligibility of DPA is unsurpassed and the main reason we therefore decided to use them."
