John Hornby Skewes Honoured
John H. Skewes, who founded the Leeds-based musical instrument distribution company, John Hornby Skewes & Co. Ltd., in 1965, received an industry ‘Life Achievement Award’ at the Music Industries Association's Annual Awards Dinner held at the Savoy Hotel, London on Wednesday, 14th September 2005.
The company is the largest privately-owned U.K. trade distributor of musical merchandise, instrument amplification and pro-audio equipment, selling its products through over 1,500 retail outlets.
In the company range are exclusive trademarked brands - Vintage guitars, Encore guitars, Santos Martinez classical guitars, Scanner radio-microphone systems, Antoni stringed instruments, Odyssey brass and woodwind instruments, Hornby recorders, Performance Percussion products and Kinsman cases.
The company is also the U.K./Eire distributor of Ovation guitars, Danelectro guitars and effects, Dunlop musical accessories, HK Audio Pro-Audio equipment and Kustom amplification.
