Outline COMPASS wins PLASA Award

Outline COM.P.A.S.S., history’s first robotized loudspeaker enclosure, won an Award for Product Innovation at London’s recent Plasa 2005 Show.

Said the judges: “Outline’s COM.P.A.S.S. is the first robotic speaker enclosure: it can be used alone or combined with other elements to form a vertical line array. Thanks to a sophisticated mechanism moved by five motors, the system can adjust vertical and horizontal directivity simultaneously from 60-150 degrees on the horizontal plane and from 0-15 degrees on the vertical plane which can be operated via remote software. The judges marked it out for its high level of innovation and that fact that it had delivered a solution long overdue”.

Outline was the only manufacturer exhibiting sound reinforcement systems that received an award this year and is also the only Italian audio company that has received a PLASA Award so far (no less than twice - for the Kanguro system in 2001 and for the COM.P.A.S.S. system this year).

Guido Noselli, Outline’s sound designer and CEO, commented: “As in 2001 – when the Kanguro won the PLASA Award – I’m very satisfied with this important acknowledgement, which rewards our company’s great commitment to research over recent years and gratifies those who worked on the realization of this product but, above all, encourages our R&D team to continue working to achieve even more ambitious goals. Personally, interpreting market requirements in an individual manner, I’ve always tried to design and build good products, able to some extent to capture users’ fantasy. I’m very pleased that the realization and value of an idea has been appreciated.”
