Uggelberg joins Alcons

Uggelberg brings a wealth of knowledge to the company. His former position was director cinema products Europe for Digital Theatre Systems (DTS). Before that, he co-founded A&T Ljudproduktion AB in Stockholm and as a consultant to the exhibitors in Scandinavia, he was responsible for the projection and sound design of over 250 screens and several mix studios built during the nineties, including 100 THX certified premier run theatres.

Anders Uggelberg studied mathematics, physics and architectural acoustics at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and industrial design at the Swedish institute of arts and crafts. He is a board member of the ITEA and a member of AES and SMPTE.

Anders Uggelberg said: “I have been part of the cinema industry for quite a while now, but my audio career actually started with loudspeaker design. After being part of the Scandinavian rental scene in the eighties, I presented an AES paper on surround loudspeakers back in 1991.”

Uggelberg continues: “Alcons Audio has developed the ribbon tweeter to an outstanding high frequency transducer, suitable for even the highest digital dynamics.

With the increased competition from high quality home theater systems, the sound quality in movie theatres is becoming an even more important factor to keep the audience coming. I strongly believe that with this pro-ribbon technology, we can explore the Digital Cinema experience to its full potential.

“It will be very exciting to bring the Alcons pro-ribbon technology to movie theaters worldwide. I am proud to be a part of the team that has accomplished so much in such short time!”

Tom Back, Alcons Audio MD said: “Anyone who knows Anders and has seen his track record, knows he’s the right man at the right place for Alcons cinema products.

We’re also very proud, to have a veteran like Anders on board as member of the market development team. This is a very significant step for us, not only for the cinema market, but for the studio and post-production markets as well.”
