Impressive New Look for 2006 Stage Electrics Welsh Tradeshow

Following the popularity and professionalism of the last two annual shows, Stage Electrics once again worked with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) to present the Stage Electrics Tradeshow in Cardiff in mid October.

The company reports that 2006 again saw an increase in numbers attending the show, with visitors travelling from all parts of Wales and the nearby English counties.

This year the RWCMD Bute Theatre had a new look, with the central section occupied by Stage Electrics with four 50” plasma screens showcasing the company’s product range. On the theatre seating block, which previously has been hidden behind drapes, a high level café area was constructed. Manufacturers occupied the stand positions around the end of the theatre space ensuring that they all had the maximum opportunity to interact with visitors.

The work transforming the Bute Theatre into an exhibition venue is carried out by a team of hardworking students. Their work is assessed and contributes towards one of four production placement grades for the second year of their studies.

Leading industry suppliers were on hand to demonstrate their latest products and services. Exhibiting at the show were Apollo, Audio Technica, ETC, Lee, Le Maitre, Mackie, MA Lighting, Martin, Prolyte, Pulsar, RCF, Rosco, Selecon, Sennheiser, Strand, Teclumen and Zero88.

Elaine Peake from Le Maitre also presented two pyrotechnic demonstrations during the day. Thankfully the weather was kind and over 70 visitors watched and enjoyed the sessions.

Stage Electrics' Helen Gadbury said: "The venue’s new look was stunning. We've had some excellent feedback from those who attended and from manufacturers who exhibited. It is our aim to give customers across the UK the opportunity to find out about what equipment is available in a relaxed atmosphere - something we will continue to do in the future. Plans for our next London Show in 2007 are already under way."

Dave Roxburgh, head of stage management at RWCMD said: "The event was a huge success. We were delighted by the turnout from schools and colleges and with the quality of the exhibitions presented. The Stage Electrics Trade Show is now firmly established as the technical theatre event in Wales."
