KIND Launch On-Board DSP Crossover/Controller
A&AG S.r.l., Italian-based manufacturers of the KIND range of high quality professional power amplifiers, has introduced the DSP Board-1 input card that can provide all of the functions of a loudspeaker system crossover/controller without the need for an external processor.
Suitable for KDL, DDX and DQX series amplifiers, the 2-in / 3-out processor has crossover, EQ, compressor and delay functions, providing a cost effective and tamper-proof system solution for most applications. The card is programmed by PC with the provided software, giving a high quality graphic interface for logical and easy access to all settings and functions. Facilities, such as ‘copy left’ and ‘copy right’, speed up the process by allowing parameters to be set for one channel and transferred to the other at the press of a button.
The input card utilizes 24-bit (26-bit inner processing) with 48 kHz AD/DA conversion, maintaining the high audio quality audio of the amplifiers, and has 105dB signal-to-noise (not muted) at 48 kHz sample rate (A-weighted stereo). Programme RAM allows for 8 programme presets plus 8 default preset and 2 control registers allow for complete control of modes and memory transfers.
There are 7 Bi-Quad filter sections per channel (general, Butterworth, Bessel, peaking, shelving and IIR for user-selected coefficients) for high-pass, low-pass and signal equalisation. For loudspeaker alignment there is zero to 6 ms variable delay per channel and the unit provides a mixed balance output for separate subwoofer amp drive with 12/24dB programmable slope and cut-off.
The unit also features a Phat Stereo function, an ideal effect for some venues and applications. Phat Stereo is a stereo spreading algorithm that creates an apparent image outside the placement of the loudspeakers and user control is provided for spread level and spread frequency.
The DSP Board-1 is now available ex stock from KIND distributors.
