Lighting the Bosphorus with MA Lighting
In Istanbul, the 2010 World’s Cultural Capital, a unique show was created for the 83rd Republic Day Celebrations which used the Bosphorus Strait as the background canvas. Strategically placed on the Bosphorus Bridge, 40 Space Cannon 8kW Xenon sky tracers lit the sky together with Space Cannons also placed around seven unique locations around the city. Altogether 110 of these gigantic lights were used. The show was watched by millions of people on five mega LED screens all over the city. Three grandMA full-size, four grandMA ultra-light and 20 MA DMX Splitter controlled the light-show.
“MA Lighting gives the best platform available. Whether at the design, the presentation or the execution stage, the grandMA had been the best control desk to utilize such a vast variety of equipment,” says Burak Altunay of Playback Music Istanbul.
Playback Music, with its production technology solutions, along with its designers, crew and support staff produced the show, and Focus Reklam Produksiyon Hizmetleri, MA’s distributor in Turkey, delivered the MA technology.
On October 29, 1923, the Turkish constitution was amended and Turkey became a republic. This formally declared the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and Republic Day is celebrated throughout Turkey every year. Commemorative events usually begin in the afternoon of the previous day.
