Modern Folk Meets Contemporary Ballet with MA
Madre Deus music combines Fado, a music genre which is characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics often about the sea or the life of the poor, with modern folk. The Portuguese band, with her charismatic singer Teresa Salgueiro, is not only popular in Portugal - since they performed the soundtrack for the Wim Wenders movie ‘Lisbon Story’ the band has gathered international sucess. During their tour ‘Um Amor Infinito’ (One infinite love) the artist combined a show in the Centro Cultural de Belem together with the Lisboa Ballet Contemporâneo. Lighting designer João Carlos Andrade used a grandMA full-size to illuminate the show.
The operator, Nuno Salsinha, is full of praise for MA Lighting technology: “The simple and reliable interconnection between the console, the PC and grandMA 3D was crucial in setting up and programming this show in just one day. The grandMA is a very intuitive console, easy to manipulate and adapt to your needs. It’s a very well structured piece of hardware for both conventional and moving lights.”
One week before the gig the show was programmed using grandMA 3D in Camões theatre in Lisbon without any light fixtures on stage.
Comprehensive project support was delivered by NAN Som e Ilumincao, MA Lighting’s distributor in Portugal.
