Scorching Summer for Soundcraft Hire

Stagecraft has reported a healthy increase in activity for its hire department during summer 2006. The combination of a prolonged summer of fine, dry weather and an increase in the number of outdoor performances and festivals has resulted in an abundance of new opportunities for the company.
Based in Salisbury, Stagecraft’s hire team has worked with theatre groups, live event companies, charities and businesses throughout the country on long and short term hire contracts.
“It has been an excellent summer for hire this year and we have thoroughly enjoyed working on such a wide variety of projects. Our team has travelled the length and breadth of the country over the last few months, setting up lighting, staging and sound systems for festivals, performances and music concerts, and we have been pleased to be involved in so many new events,” commented technical director Mike Naish. “Fine weather has also helped organisations to feel confident about staging outdoor events although we always build into our plans the possibility of a downpour!”
Stagecraft’s hire team has been responsible for the staging, lighting and sound at regional and national events this year. The company supplied Martin MAC 250s and MAC 500s for a private performance by the band Madness, the Arc Roof and stage for the Salisbury International Arts Festival, Art Asia and the Honey Pot charity appeal, Source 4 profiles and Pars for Brownsea Island Open Air Theatre and lighting for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, West Green House and exhibitors at the Southampton Boat Show.
Mike Naish continued: “Part of this year’s success has been due to the launch of our new website, which has introduced Stagecraft into a number of new areas, and we have been delighted with the response we have had to the new site. One of our largest projects has been a three-month hire with Marwell Zoo, which included supplying a stage, lighting and sound system for an educational series of shows called ‘Wild Theatre’. The website has been a key part of our growth this year and we are hoping to better this in 2007.”
