Blackout Paints City Red for Armani at London Fashion Week

At a star-studded party held during Fashion Week at the Brompton Hall in London’s Earls Court, Blackout were contracted by Gainsbury & Whiting to provide all draping for the Armani Red Event. They used 2,500 metres of black casement to build a ceiling and perimeter across the venue. The main entrance foyer was also decorated using blue casement ceilings.

“We were very excited to be involved in one of the fashion world’s most publicised events. Our drapes can transform any venue to create a perfect atmosphere for every event,” said Tom Lambert, project manager at Blackout.

A spectacular showcase of Armani's Spring/Summer 2007 Emporio Armani collection, the Armani Red collection and the current Giorgio Armani and Armani Private collections was revealed. The event aimed to raise awareness of the Red consumer campaign, aimed at combating HIV and AIDS in the Third World. It was attended by A-list celebrities including Bono, Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyonce Knowles, Bryan Ferry, 50 Cent, Ashley Judd, Elle Macpherson, Kevin Spacey and Andrea Bocelli, among others.

The production was produced by Gainsbury & Whiting. Dee Patel, the producer, commented: “The venue needed to be blacked out so it could work with the lighting and broadcast camera crews. The attention to every detail in creating the look was of key importance to this project. Blackout did a fantastic job and it was very easy to work with them. At all times, they were able to help with any items or queries that we needed addressing.”
