EV's ZX Series Speakers are Perfect Fit for New London Club
Youcef Aden, the costume designer for hit eighties TV show Dynasty, has opened Hedges & Butler, a new private members' club in central London, principally intended to become a venue for upcoming actors, directors, producers and arts professionals to network in the city.
Once the name of the fine wine division of the Bass drinks empire, Hedges & Butler has been resurrected as a public bar-restaurant and a private members club. Located in a warren of arched brick vaults below London's Regent Street, Hedges & Butler is a series of atmospheric interconnected rooms, some still featuring the metal gates which protected the valuable wine inventory. The venue has been cleverly furnished with antiques and books to underline its artistic ambitions.
Installation company Systems Etc has identified Electro-Voice's new ZX range of speakers as the ideal sound reinforcement system for the club. In one of the largest clubrooms, ideal for a small-scale live performance, there are six ZX5 15" 2-way cabinets, featuring EV's new woofer and compression driver, giving a 60 degree x 60 degree coverage pattern.
Throughout the other smaller clubrooms, Bernard Mani of Systems Etc has specified 24 x EV ZXli loudspeakers. Bass is provided by EV SB121 bass bins, and the venue's zoned system is controlled by four EV D38 digital controller.
For the DJs, there are two custom-built booths, equipped with Technics decks, Allen & Heath mixers and Pioneer CD players. And of course Electro-Voice SX100a speakers as DJ monitors.
