ZonePro DSP Used for Witness Protection in Kosovo
dbx Professional Products, a Salt Lake City-based manufacturer of professional signal processing products and a division of Harman International, report that proprietary ZonePRO 640 and 641DSP processing has been specified as part of the relay equipment for witness protection in the courtrooms of Kosovo.
The Office of Court Administration appointed local distributors, Prishtina-based AVC Group sh.p.k to provide the DSP devices as part of a Harman Pro solution.
The company successfully bid for the tender to install identical systems and equipment in the court rooms in each of the five judicial districts in Kosovo; the systems needed to provide the capability of assuring the anonymity of witnesses, to protect their safety and that of other parties, their relatives and associates.
A single ZonePRO 640 and 641 is used in each location, along with a Crown XLS 402 amplifier — feeding a pair of JBL Control 25's and four Control 28's.
The ZonePRO 640 handles the mixing, routing, filtering and priority ducking, while the EQ and Advanced Feedback Suppression (AFS) are assigned to the ZonePRO 641.
AVC Group project manager, Ilir Gorani says that the company had been able to ensure that the project's goals would be accomplished, and that protected witnesses are now able to give evidence remotely.
“These courts already had conference systems with IR distribution of the simultaneous translation. But we have customised them, enabling them to insert Lexicon MX 200 dual reverb/FX processor to handle the voice distortion with a Soundcraft Compact 4 to level the signals,” said Mr Gorani.
The empowerment of Rule of Law in many Balkan countries is funded by US and British Governments. The US Office has now ordered videoconference systems to be installed in these five district courts, and AVC Group are hopeful that other courts within the Balkans will now follow the Kosovo model.
