ADLIB’s Sound Engineer of the Year

ADLIB Audio’s Dave Kay won the 2006 Total Production International Award for Sound Engineer of the Year.
Kay’s FOH duties for 2005 included a world tour with the Scissor Sisters, working on dates with The Coral for their new album launch and overseeing one of ADLIB’s busiest years to date, along with co-directors Andy Dockerty and Mark Roberts.
Kay kicked off 2005 by engineering the Scissor Sisters at Edinburgh’s Hogmany celebrations before pond-hopping to conclude their seminal run of USA club dates. He returned to the UK, and was reunited with the darlings of New York electro kitsch for their spectacular opening set at the 2005 Brit Awards. They also collected three Awards that same night!
The next day, Kay and the band flew to Australia, headlining the Good Vibrations Festival at various locations and doing their own shows. Next stop was Japan for a quick tour, and then on to LA - for a show the same day – at Elton John’s Oscar party.
Kay then returned to Liverpool and worked with The Coral on dates to promote their new album until mid-June, when the touring commitments of both bands clashed! One of many summer highlights was headlining the V festival with the Scissor Sisters, and then taking the show to Ireland.
The rest of the year was spent engaged in a big push for ADLIB, including streamlining the growing company’s internal structure. The summer saw ADLIB service Arena tours for Blue, Texas and others, plus a massive installation at Ibiza’s favorite groovespot, Manumission. A significant investment was made in ADLIB Audio Lighting, and the fruits of both elements of the company recently united on arena level for the star-studded Manchester v Cancer gig, featuring New Order and Nine Black Alps, which was crew chiefed by Kay.
