Outline at the Winter Olympics

Outline has announced that its loudspeaker systems made a considerable contribution to the sound reinforcement at the recent 20th Winter Olympic Games in Turin.
An event of this scale – watched live on television by 2 billion viewers – provided an opportunity to showcase their equipment and Outline met this challenge with the installation of 40 Butterfly CDH 483 Hi-Pack systems flown on either side of a maxi-screen in the enchanting setting of Piazza San Carlo, backed up by 18 floor-stacked Victor Live subwoofers. Amplification and control hardware consisted in 36 Outline T6.5 digital power amps and two Genius 26 processors respectively.
In the famous Piazza Castello – re-christened “Medal Plaza” for the occasion – 18 monitor Outline HARD 212 SPs were preferred for the gigantic rotating stage – one of the largest ever seen – which hosted artists of the calibre of Whitney Houston, Andrea Bocelli, Lou Reed, Duran Duran, Jamiroquai, Ricky Martin and Avril Lavigne, to mention just a few. In addition, 20 Outline Micra II SP monitors, were specifically requested for the orchestra of Maestro Ennio Morricone.
The Butterfly line array and HARD monitors were also used on 29th January in Milan, on the occasion of the arrival of the Olympic Torch, an event in which the city’s mayor Gabriele Albertini and leading authorities took part, as well as Simona Ventura and other famous television personalities.
Other Olympic locations in Turin also made wide use of Outline equipment, but details of these will be announced in a later announcement.
The Outline loudspeaker systems for the Turin 2006 Olympic Games were used by the audio technicians of Agorą and “PA Man” Daniele Tramontani.
