Solid State Logic Introduces Xlogic Channel EQ For X-Rack System At Winter Namm 2006

Solid State Logic, the industry leader in high-end analogue and digital consoles, expanded its acclaimed XLogic product range with the introduction of the XLogic Channel EQ module for the scalable X-Rack System at Winter NAMM, January 19-22 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

As with the new XLogic Mic Amp, the XLogic Channel EQ adds additional SuperAnalogue processing from SSL’s flagship XL 9000 K Series console to the X-Rack package. The Channel EQ for X-Rack is identical to the XL 9000 K Series equalizer, including the console’s E/G series characteristic switching.

The Channel EQ for X-Rack features full parametric mid bands (gain, frequency and Q). High and low bands are switchable between shelving and fixed Q bell curves. Mid bands are switchable between the SSL E (bandwidth constant with gain) and G series (bandwidth increases as gain is reduced) characteristics. Shelving high and low bands are also switchable between SSL E (6dB per octave) and G (steeper slope with overshoot) characteristics. The Channel EQ for X-Rack also features switchable operating levels (+4dBu/-10dBV) to optimize signal-to-noise performance.

“With the continued rapid growth in desktop audio production and smaller studio environments, we developed the X-Rack system to deliver the quality and performance of SSL consoles in a scalable package to suit those environments,” commented Niall Feldman, director of product marketing for SSL. “The new Channel EQ means that the X-Rack system is one step closer to delivering the audio quality of a full XL 9000 K Series console in a 4U rack space.”

The X-Rack is a modular rack system that incorporates SSL’s legendary Total RecallŪ capability, launched with a mono SuperAnalogue dynamics unit as its first module. With the addition of the Channel EQ and the Mic Amp, also debuting at Winter NAMM, a comprehensive range of top-shelf signal processing is now available to audio production environments ranging from the desktop studio to high-end commercial recording and post-production facilities.

The X-Rack system allows up to eight modules in a 4U 19-inch rack mount enclosure complete with Total Recall capability. The modules replicate the performance and look and feel of the XL 9000 K through a vertical control layout.

The Total Recall facility offers 32 local flash memory recalls and Save/Load switches for custom setup and recall of entire settings. An external interface allows integrated connection to the AWS 900 console. A daisy chain connection of multiple X-Rack units is also available. Total Recall data is easily saved from the X-Rack into the AWS and from there onto a DAW.
