New Website for White Light
White Light has launched its new website which is located at its current address at White Light’s current address, http://www.whitelight.ltd.uk.
With a clean new look, the new website aims to make information about the full range of the company’s activities - including lighting hire, sales, installation and service across theatre, corporate productions, events, exhibitions and more - easily accessible to visitors. Easy to navigate, the website includes a new Portfolio section showing the company’s work on a wide range of projects including new installations at the Sevenoaks Playhouse and Hextable Dance Studio, parties, outdoor events at venues including King’s College and the BA London Eye as well as in the theatres of London’s West End.
Also included in the new website is White Light’s new Knowledge Base, a comprehensive database of theatre lighting equipment intended to become the on-line equivalent of White Light’s classic hire catalogue - the first place anyone seeking information about a lighting product chooses to look. The Knowledge Base is part of the website’s Resources section which is designed to share the wealth of knowledge White Light has amassed over the last three decades with those who have a technical interest in lighting.
“We’ve been working on both the website and the Knowledge for some time,” comments White Light’s managing director, Bryan Raven. “Our aim was to create a clean, clear, elegant site that would appeal to visitors ranging from an electrician or lighting designer looking for the beam angle of a particular lantern, to schools looking for training and to visitors from beyond the world of entertainment looking to jazz up a party or event with lighting. We also wanted visitors to be able to see the people who ‘are’ White Light - the staff who actually make everything happen. I think the new site achieves all of that, and more.”
White Light had an early presence on the world wide web, launching its first site in 1996 when the company still had just one Compuserve email address! White Light’s second site was launched in late 1999 and with minor re-designs, most recently in mid-2005, has continued to provide a comprehensive range of information and news about White Light, during a period of enormous diversification and growth. In 2002 White Light also unveiled it’s popular online lighting shopping site, http://www.lxstore.com, where you can purchase all forms of lighting consumables ranging from sheets of colour, batteries and lamps, to even a White Light t-shirt!
