Rycote Launches Softie Mount Camera Clamp Adaptor
Rycote has launched a new Softie Mount Camera Clamp Adaptor (CCA), which enables an external microphone to be shock-mounted onto the camera. This latest product, in a range of new microphone accessories by the company, fits a number of camcorders with on-board microphone clamps including the Sony HDR-Z1 and the Canon XL series. With a 3/8” Whitworth tapped hole in the base it also fits neatly onto microphone stands and boom poles and can even be hand-held.
Rycote’s managing director, Vivienne Dyer commented: “We introduced the CCA a while ago specifically for attachment to camcorders. However we soon discovered it was such a versatile product that we realised we could use the CCA in place of the boom adaptor on Softie mounts. All Softie mounts will be supplied with a CCA instead of our original boom adaptor giving customers the choice of using a boom or clamping onto a camera, or even hand-holding the device.”
In addition to the clamp Rycote has brought out a new lightweight extension handle. It is fitted with a soft-feel foam grip and enables the user to hand-hold a wide range of microphone mounts. The handle has a 3/8” Whitworth male thread on one end and a 3/8” Whitworth female insert on the other to make it highly adaptable.
Among other new microphone accessories introduced recently are the Hot Shoe Extension, Adaptor and Multimount v2.
