ABTT Theatre Show Packed with Innovation

As the ABTT Theatre Show draws closer (14-15 June, Royal Horticultural Halls, London), its organiser – the Association of British Theatre Technicians – is delighted to announce a record level of pre-registrations and over 100 exhibitors showcasing a spectrum of technical solutions for everyone involved with equipping, refurbishing or up-grading their drama studio, theatre, auditorium or multi-purpose performance space.

   In its 27th Year and boasting the largest number of pre-registered visitors ever, the ABTT Theatre Show has grown from strength to strength and is recognised as a unique event that promotes dialogue between end users and manufacturers. The show embraces a developing range of technologies to its expanding visitor base, which includes technicians, technical managers, heads of drama departments, architects, consultants, designers, building services and facility managers.

   As part of the show’s commitment to growth and its investment in visitor promotion, pre-registration is offered free of charge simply and efficiently on line http://www.abtt.org.uk/theatreshow . Plus the show benefits from new opening hours 10.30 am – 6.00 pm on Wednesday 14th June and 10.00 am – 5.00 pm on Thursday 15th June.

   The ABTT Show 2006 promises to deliver the widest cross section of products and services from rigging, automation, to lighting, audio seating advanced staging, video and drapes systems, which are aimed at augmenting the potential of any venue or performance space in line with contemporary demands.

   Helping users to comply with HSE regulations there will be a variety of low cost rigging and automation solutions on display that offer the scope and glamour of the West End to small or short run and touring productions in any venue or regional theatre.

   Stage Technologies will showcase its new automation control console – the Revolution Drive system, plus Slingo will present its innovative CABLEnet – the UK’s best known tensioned wire grid system and the most flexible and safest option for working at height in any roof or grid space.

   Lift turn Move are back for their second year and will highlight examples of their extensive range of CM Lodestar motors.

   Hall Stage will debut the new mirrorball safety suspension system from Hof-Alutec, which is designed to support 250kgs with dual suspension lines attached independently of both motor and ball. The new swivel carries the load with complete safety, offering peace of mind to venue owners and licensing officers alike.

   Triple E will showcase its range of track systems, including the 3WAY, Chaintrack and Unibeam systems. Since 3WAY’s debut last year, scooping the fourth ABTT Award for Triple E, it has been sold to clients around the world and has been integrated into complex installations, including the new variable acoustic scheme for The Royal Festival Hall.

   XL Video will illustrate how visualisation equipment and services as well as crew and a vast array of technical skills and knowledge can positively impact on theatre and arts productions of all types.

   J&C Joel feature amongst the theatrical drape and fabrics manufacturers exhibiting which also include Gerriets and Varia.

   Exhibiting for the first time specialist Gobo manufacturer, Goboland, will present its range of quality black and white and colour glass gobo designs; plus the company will premiere its new steel Gobo collection, which is manufactured exclusively in the UK. Head of UK Operations, Vicky Fairall, commented: “We’re really looking forward to the show – it offers a unique platform to network within the theatre production world. We hope to not only meet new distributors for our range but also the LDs and technicians who specify and recommend our products for major shows and touring productions around the world.”

   Harlequin will launch its new publication ‘Specifying Dancefloors’, which is aimed specifically at the Architects who attend the show. There has been a lack of specific information available to architects asked to design dance and drama spaces. It details the differences between the sprung floors in Harlequin's range; gives test results and specifications, together with case studies of a variety of installations worldwide.

   The HSL Group – one of the busiest and fastest growing lighting rental operations in the UK will be exhibiting for the second year and as sponsors of the bar in the Lawrence Hall will recognise the cultural significance of socialising as an essential element of the industry.

   Amongst the many moving light manufacturers on display are Robe who will present a host of new products including the ColorWash 575AT Zoom and the new LEDWash 136LT, plus its ColorSpot and Wash 250 and 575 AT range. All these fixtures are ideal for theatre applications – touring and installation.

   Avolites will exhibit its range of lighting consoles as well as its hugely popular ART2000 touring racks, which are a great favourite with touring theatre shows.

   A host of cutting edge audio systems solutions will be showcased from cabinets to radio mic systems, FOH consoles, FX systems and advanced communications systems from key manufacturers, distributors and service providers including, d&b audiotechnic, Meyer Sound, Alcons Audio, K2 Communications, Trantec and Marquee Audio.

   Theatre sound specialists Orbital will as the distributor for HME launch the revolutionary Comlink, which is a digital 2.4Ghz all in one headset that offers a total comms solution that is set to significantly enhance the potential of two-way communications in the UK’s broadcast, live performance, corporate presentation and installed sound markets.

   As a new feature all supporting trade publications will be showcased on ‘The ABTT Thetare Show News Stand,’ situated in the foyer of the Lawrence Hall. The annual ABTT Theatre Show Awards will take place at the Commonwealth Club, Northumberland Avenue, SW1 on Wednesday 14th June 2006.
