Enjoy Rycote’s New Smoothies at NAB
Rycote is launching a new range of smooth windshields at NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) in Las Vegas this month. They are called Rycote Smoothies and as well as being robust come in a range of exciting new colours.
The Smoothies comprise a two-part foam cavity constructed of an open acoustic foam base, covered by a thin foam outer skin, reducing wind noise up to 22dB. There is a large range of sizes to fit most popular shotgun and condenser microphones (from 19mm to 25 mm diameter). There are five new colours: blackberry, strawberry, lime, banana and blueberry.
For increased wind protection removable Windjammers (fur covers) are also available as an optional extra. These can be supplied with printed colour logos.
Commented Rycote managing director, Vivienne Dyer: “We are certainly hoping our Smoothies will appeal to our customers! We are confident they will be a match for most conditions as foam does not break down under high uv conditions. It will be interesting to see which colour catches on the most!”
