Jack Morton Worldwide Organise Supplier Health & Safety Forums
For many years Jack Morton Worldwide has been an event industry leader in its approach to health & safety compliance. They have always operated a vigorous Control of Contractors scheme to ensure that all of their chosen suppliers can demonstrate compliance with all current health and safety legislation.
This year Chris Richards, Jack Morton Worldwide UK technical director, decided that is was not sufficient to simply audit its suppliers H&S documentation, but a program of consultative Supplier Forums was needed to fully engage its suppliers in all of Jack Morton‘s H&S systems and procedures.
The first Supplier H&S Forum took place in March of this year and was extremely well received by the Jack Morton Event Production Team and its rigging services suppliers.
Representatives from Vertigo Rigging, Summit Steel and Blackout were all invited to the forum to discuss in detail proposals to ensure compliance with the ‘Work at Height Regulations’ and their impact on the working practices employed in the industry.
Chris states: “Jack Morton Worldwide takes the health and safety of their audiences, and their own team very seriously. With the ever increasing legislation, it is not sufficient for Jack Morton to simply mandate prescriptive H&S procedures without first consulting with its key suppliers and then ensuring that they too are able to implement all appropriate procedures.”
Jack Morton ensures that their teams are fully conversant with current H&S legislation and their health and safety team follows recent cases. They are aware how often companies are prosecuted for the ‘Acts or Omissions’ on the part of their chosen contractors and make sure they and their clients are protected from such breaches.
