Jands Vista Supplied to West End Studios

When the studio decided to replace their console due to the increasingly sophisticated lighting demands of productions, technical production manager Andy Cheshire contacted Jands Vista distributor A.C. Lighting to arrange a demo. Andy and the studios’ in-house lighting technicians were so impressed by the Vista’s flexibility, usability and speed that after the demo they saw no point in looking at any other consoles.
Andy commented: “I was looking for something which could handle a lot more fixtures, was smarter and faster and had ethernet outputs. The Vista was the obvious choice. Using features such as the timeline it’s just so quick and powerful – we can create looks and chases that would take up half the capacity and three hours of programming time on our old console in just five minutes on the Vista. It’s enabling us to get much more out of the same amount of programming time and clients have noticed this too.”
The T2 will be used for offsite project work and live concert events in the onsite studio. West End Studios have also ordered an S3 control surface for use on exhibitions and as an add-on wing for the T2.
Andy has found that by using the T2 connected to WYSIWYG visualisation software in the office and offline editor on the move to pre-program his lighting designs, it has taking much of the time and hassle out of preparing for shows as minimal tweaking needs to be done onsite.
Since delivery the Vista has been used on national conferences in Stoneleigh and Brighton featuring up to 1800 delegates, and a week-long international conference in Paris featuring 1200 delegates.
Fixtures used across events included High End PC beams, Clay Pay Alpha washes, Alpha Spot 575s and Alpha Spot 1200s, Martin MAC 500s and MAC 600s, Chroma-Q Color Blocks, Thomas Pixel Par 90s and PixelLine 1024s, various hazers and generic fixtures.
Andy commented: “With so many movers and LED fixtures on each job the Vista’s speed of programming really came into its own. It’s already really intuitive, but features like the quick store are making it even more usable by our freelancers. We had one freelance op in recently who literally got the rig up and running by himself before we’d given him any Vista training at all.”
The Vista range includes the new compact S3 control surface, full size T4/T2 consoles, new E2 add-on module for T2/T4 consoles and offline editor with optional unlock key for ethernet output.
A.C. Lighting is the exclusive European and North American distributor for the Jands Vista.
