ETCP Rigging Computer-Based Deadline Approaching

The next application deadline for the ETCP computer-based rigging examinations (arena and theatre) is June 1, 2006. Accepted candidates will be allowed to sit for their exam(s) in the third quarter (seating in July, August, and September). Those who pass this rigorous test will become ETCP Certified Riggers - and will be recognized as the industry’s best. Many employers are now searching for ETCP Certified Riggers online and have stated they may require certification in the future.

   After a qualified rigger has been accepted, the candidate will be sent information on how to schedule his/her examination(s) at a site, date, and time that is available and convenient for him/her. The next deadline is September 1, 2006 for the fourth quarter (seating in October, November, and December).

   The rigging certification examinations are available at centers throughout the U.S. and Canada. View these testing sites online, as well as obtain candidate information, including eligibility requirements, application forms, and deadlines, on the ETCP website (http://etcp.esta.org).    The rigging certifications are designed for highly experienced riggers (rigging supervisors, high steel riggers, flypersons, etc). Qualified riggers can apply for either one or both exams. Individuals must meet eligibility requirements to apply for the exam(s).

   2006 Rigging Application Form” postmarked no later than July 1, 2006. Also, the first ETCP Entertainment Electrician examination will be given at the LDI conference. The application deadline is also July 1, 2006, and more examination and application information is available online.

   The ETCP Council members are key leaders drawn from entertainment business, labor, facilities, associations, and academia representing the diversity of the entertainment industry. Membership includes AMPTP, CITT, ESTA, IAAM, IATSE, InfoComm, The League, Live Nation, PRG, TEA, and USITT.
