Princes Trust Power Logistics at the Tower

Creating an event in one of the country’s most prestigious landmarks, with restricted access and royalty present was no mean feat, but Power Logistics were part of an A-list production team that managed just that.

The 30th Anniversary year of the Prince’s Trust was always set to be one of the parties of the year, with an amazing line up including Pink, Will Young, Lionel Ritchie, Ozzy Ozbourne, Sugababes and Annie Lennox.

With a carefully planned and executed production build managed by production manager Robbie Williams, the electrical equipment was craned from the street outside of the Tower of London over the historic walls into the event site within the moat of the Tower.

A week before the show Power Logistics' Director, Pete Wills, led a team of five staff, craning seven generators, fuel storage tanks and distro into position. They then spent four days installing the system that saw five 455kVA synchronised generators powering the lighting and screens, a 455kVA twin pack powering the pa and outside broadcast, with a further 250kVA positioned inside the Tower grounds for architectural lighting.

Pete Wills said: “Obviously this was a very sensitive site so we had to be extra attentive to ensure that nothing was damaged. We had to work with stringent security, including the requirement for special authorisation to get our fuel trucks through police cordons. It was a great production team to work with and particularly fitting to see the Prince’s Trust celebration in a building of this stature.”
