RML with Jonathan Ross
‘Friday Night with Jonathan Ross’ started in what seems an age ago on 2nd November 2001 and this year the show has entered its tenth series spanning over five years. Lighting designer Chris Kempton has been with the show since the unaired pilot was made back in 2001 and brought RML in for a David Bowie special back in June 2002.
In 2003 Richard Martin Lighting became a regular provider of moving lights for the show and have been privileged to provide the moving lights for every series and specials since.
The first series started with VL2000 Washes and LED Parcans, but the moving light rig has grown a lot since then. The latest rig is made up of 900mm Chroma Strips, PixelLine 1044s, MR16 Battens, PixelPar 90s, MAC 700 and the VL 2000 Washes. The one constant since the beginning has been the use of the VL 2000 Washes.
The Vari*Lite manufactured wash light has a full cross fading colour system, zoomable beam spreader, forced air cooling, remote focus beam and fifteen control channels in sixteen-bit enhanced mode. It makes an ideal light to be used in a television studio.
The PixelPar 90s and Pixelline 1044 (named because the number of LEDs they hold) have been recently added to the hire list. Used to illuminate the band area they provide a spectrum of colour during the musical numbers.
