Arena Structures Hospitality First with Volvo
Arena Structures worked closely with Volvo’s Event management team to create the first temporary hospitality facilities at Portsmouth’s new landmark 170m high Spinnaker Tower.
Arena’s luxurious suite welcomed Volvo’s teams and guests from The Volvo Ocean Race, the world’s premier international yacht race and one of the most demanding team sporting events in the world. The glass fronted structure gave stunning views down onto the decks of the moored yachts and across the Solent, providing a premium environment in line with Volvo brand’s high standards.
Having spent almost seven months crossing 29,250 nautical miles of the globe’s most treacherous seas, the yacht’s arrived at Portsmouth’s Gunwharf Quays in May 2006.
The event team was the first to work at the logistically challenging harbour front, with Arena’s crew having to work in unbelievable weather conditions (considering the time of year), with force 7 gusts forcing work to halt at some instances. Despite this, Arena completed the installation of the peaked Milano and Vienna hospitality suite on schedule and to the highest of standards.
