Power Logistics go Pop on the Beach
Power Logistics supplied the power for the spectacular T4 Pop on the Beach concert at Weston Super Mare for the second successive year.
Will Young, Basement Jaxx, Pet Shop Boys, The Zutons, Feeder, McFly and Shayne Ward were among the stars performing at Channels 4’s flagship concert of the summer to a crowd of 30,000.
Done and Dusted once again produced the show, which was aired on Channel 4’s T4 music program. Event manager Juliette Bawdrey and production manager Tony Wheeler built on the success of previous shows to create the unique temporary concert venue on the beach at Weston Super Mare.
Tony Harpur led the Power Logistics team providing all the power for the site. A 250kVA twinpack generator fed the stage lighting and a 450kVA twinpack generator fed the screens, PA and three broadcast trucks. Additional Power Logistics generators powered the temporary production areas, artists’ dressing rooms, hospitality areas, press tent, First Aid points, VIP bar and sponsors’ areas for Heat Magazine and Toyota, who had adapted their new Aygo car into a DJ booth.
Tony said: “The stage requirements were fairly similar to last year, with the twinpacks ensuring uninterrupted power. The site had however grown with additional sponsors’ and audience facilities which meant we had more distro and cabling to clean the sand off, having buried all of the cable runs under the sand in trenches!”
