Sirius Showequipment AG Purchases Meyer Sound MICA as First Self-Powered Line Array

Sirius Showequipment AG, one of Germany’s leading sound companies, has announced that it has taken delivery of a large Meyer Sound system based around the MICA compact high-power curvilinear array loudspeaker. The Sirius order is the result of long-standing relationships between Sirius owner Wolfgang Neumann, chief engineer Holger Schader, and Meyer Sound.

Sirius has added 24 MICA cabinets, plus 12 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofers, three Galileo loudspeaker management systems, and two LD-1A line drivers to their inventory.

“The MICA system is our first investment in a self-powered line array speaker,” says Sirius’s owner, Wolfgang "Schabbach" Neumann. “We did this because we believe self-powered loudspeakers are the future of the touring business.” Neumann states that MICA’s profile was another important factor in Sirius’s purchase decision.    “The MICA system perfectly fills our need for a medium-size system, which we’ve been looking to buy for a long time,” Neumann says, adding “For us, MICA is the perfect supplement to our rental stock.”

Jim Sides, the new managing director of Meyer Sound’s German office, also sees MICA as ideally suited to the types of venues Sirius works in. “Sirius Showequipment is one of Europe’s most important sound companies, so acquiring a MICA system is a natural move for them,” Sides notes. “MICA is the perfect size to cover the many mid-sized theatres and concert halls in Germany and around Europe, so I know Sirius’s system will be kept busy. We’re very happy to have them on board with Meyer Sound.”
