Entec Buys d&b J-Series
Entec Sound has made a massive investment in d&b’s new J-Series line array sound system, boosting stock in time to help service it’s hectic summer order book. The west-London based company has purchased 16 J8 elements, four J12s and ten J-SUBS, together with 22 D12 amplifiers to power it all and four flying frames to hang it. This follows on from Entec’s major purchase of d&b’s first generation of Q-series line array two years ago – which has been on the road for them constantly ever since.
The J-Series has been specifically designed to provide high-power-high-quality audio for arena and stadium shows, and any large spaces requiring very high clarity audio including outdoor shows and festivals.
Entec’s head of sound Dick Hayes comments: “It made complete sense to carry on the d&b route when this product was released, allowing us to offer d&b for all our shows from the smallest to the largest. I firmly believe that this system will get Entec back on the map for large events and tours.” He adds that he thinks it’s the best current sound system in terms of quality and the dynamic range of performance with which it deals – from poetry and classical to pop, rock & thrash metal!
Entec first used the J-Series in situ’ at the Teenage Cancer Trust shows in the Royal Albert Hall at the end of March. The Who’s Roger Daltry – who knows a thing or two about powerful sound - was so blown away with the system that he insisted they must use it wherever possible on all their subsequent gigs! It was used again for The Who’s performance at Hedgestock, which was also the first time Entec had used the system outdoors, which proved a great success.
Dick and his team were so impressed with the capabilities of the system, and as Entec is servicing several of The Who’s festival shows running up to the start of their world tour, the decision was taken to purchase the J-Series.
The new system’s first official outing will be on the upcoming three-day Guilfest event – headlined by acts as diverse as Embrace, A-Ha and Billy Idol - in July and a host of other Entec shows throughout the summer.
Dick summed it all up by saying “I really look forward to seeing the stunned expression on sound engineer’s faces when they first hear it over the coming months. As I said after TCT, the J-Series is Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy!”
