Martin Models at the British Bridal Fair
The British Bridal Exhibition is the premier bridal trade show, which takes place bi-annually in the picturesque spa town of Harrogate. It has grown into the world's largest trade bridal exhibition and has been established since 1987. The exhibition attracts key bridal buyers from the UK and overseas.
Rick Lawson of Funtime AV was the LD for the show and his brief was to design a series of distinctly different lighting states to enhance a catwalk show by a number of different designers.
Rick explains: “We used a combination of MAC 250 Kryptons, MAC 250 Washes and MAC 550s. Among the benefits were high light output, sharpness of image and the speed and quietness of the motors. Also due to an extremely low ceiling all the units had to be situated on the floor, so the fact that all the units were part of the same range, gave a visual uniformity when it was rigged, which looked a lot tidier than using several manufacturers.”
Rick comments: “I chose the Martin lighting especially the MAC 250s because of the good optics and sharp gobo's and all our MAC's have been very reliable.”
The equipment used were Showmagic, MAC 250 Kryptons, MAC 250 Washes, MAC 300’s, MAC 550’s, ETC Parnell’s, ETC Source 4 Juniors, LED Panels, a custom-built LED wall and ZR 24/7 Hazers. All were supplied by Funtime AV from their hire stock.
Rick Lawson’s lighting background and experience used to be predominately club and bar programming, but over the last three years Funtime AV have expanded our hire department dramatically and stock Martin moving heads exclusively.
