RCF 4PROs Rise to the Occasion
Finsbury Park in London became awash with colour and sound for The Rise Festival, brainchild of London’s Mayor Ken Livingston. The free music festival was designed to celebrate London's multi-cultural diversity and opposing racism.
The event featured four live music stages with acts including The Wailers, Buzzcocks, Graham Coxon (former guitarist with Blur) and a host of other musicians, who provided music for all walks of life from jazz to hip-hop, indie to reggae and everything in between. The audio side was under the control of Willpower who sub-hired systems in from various other rental companies.
Reading-based Sabre International was one of these and they supplied equipment for two stages, the Big Cuba Fiesta and Mela stage. David Hawkes of Sabre decided to give the powerful RCF 4PRO 7001-A system the job of the Big Cuba Fiesta stage. He explained: “For the this stage we needed as a system that could handle the dynamics of the Cuban music. We have always been a fan and long term user of RCF systems and I felt confident that the system would replicate the music to a large audience.”
What Hawkes had in his mind was a 4PRO active system comprising two 7001-As and four 8001-ASs per side. After consulting with RCF’s Greg Oliver he decided that this would give him all the power he needed in a very compact ground stacked array, but would not intimidate the audience or distract from the stage.
The 4PRO system is designed for live concert sound applications. As standard the 7001-A is a three-way configured Active Speaker System, however by adding to the 4PRO 8001AS Active 18” Subwoofer System you can easily convert the 7001-A into a uniquely outstanding four-way Active.
Greg Oliver added. “With this all-active system, it allows for a simple plug and play set-up. And with our specially developed neodymium drivers, it allows the system to be moved with ease both reducing the load in/out time and the crew numbers.”
Hawkes commented: "The system performed faultlessly, and given the fact that there was a large crowd gathered in front of the stage dancing for the whole event, it was a complete success."
