Star Morbit at Stoneleigh Abbey
Stoneleigh Abbey sits in 690 acres of parkland and gardens through which the River Avon flows. It is therefore an idyllic setting for staging classical musical concerts accompanied by dramatic firework displays.
For this reason, Julie McNally of Spitfire Productions has been producing an evening of classical music at Stoneleigh for 11 years and throughout this period has used Star Events Group (formerly Star Hire) as her only staging PA and power supplier.
On-site at Stoneleigh 24 hours prior to her twelfth annual show, Julie explained why she continues to use Star Events Group: “I always get terrific support from Jane (Jane Russen – director Star Mobile) and her team throughout the planning process. The whole ‘classical show in parkland’ type event has taken off so much in recent years, we are competing heavily with similar shows that have sprung up nearby. But we believe the setting at Stoneleigh, and our superior firework displays, are what audiences still appreciate.”
This year Spitfire Productions chose to use the new Morbit (mobile-Orbit) stage for the event. In previous years Julie has used the StarStage mobiles but chose the Morbit as a more affordable alternative to the classic Orbit system, which is the preference of many production managers when producing classical shows.
And what did Julie think of the new stage after the show? “I thought it was really super,” Julie remarked. “It was quick to build, acoustically it was great for the orchestra and offered loads more space. The Star Events Group crew were excellent as always, good as gold!”
