Nova-Flower for Richard Martin Lighting

Rental Company Richard Martin Lighting is the first rental company in the UK to take stock the new Novalight Nova-Flowers. They have six units.
The Nova-Flower is “a flower with CYM and blackout but with a body like the Moving High Ground,” says Marcello Bertini of Novalight. This is why the exterior to the light is identical to that of the Moving High Ground.
The reason for Bertini designing and manufacturing this new fixture was, according to Novalight, that the Space Flower has been around for a long time but they wanted to create something that was fully DMX controllable, with colours and for outdoor use.” A combination of the Moving High Ground and Space Flower was the result.
During a visit to the UK, Marcello visited the RML office with Peter Coles from Lightfactor (Novalight distributors). The inspiration behind the meeting was for Marcello to get an idea of what customers would think of the new light fixture. After a lengthy discussion, Steve Wells of Richard Martin Lighting agreed the light would be popular and he was interested in ordering some – before they had even been made.
All that was left was to choose an appropriate name for the new fixture. Bertini said: “The original name was High-Flower but Steve (Wells) suggested it should be Nova-Flower and so we decided to follow that choice and name the light accordingly.”
The units had barely touched RML’s shelves before lighting designer Gurdip Mahal found out about them and asked to use them on the Channel Four show ‘T4’. Mahal has always been a fan of the ‘Space Flower’ effect so this would be a true test for the new lights as to whether they were up to his standards. “Fantastic! The colours are really fantastic,” he said. “The colour wheel is very good, it can spin very fast and the range of colours was very impressive. I will definitely use them again, I was very impressed.”
