SBES 2006 Getting Prepared
With just three months to go before the doors to the Sound Broadcasting Equipment Show open once again, organisers and numerous exhibitors are putting the final touches to plans for the 2006 event.
With some 70 exhibitors already confirmed as taking part in November Dave McVittie at Point Promotions has begun turning organisers' attention to attracting visitors. "We're still working to accommodate the needs of late booking exhibitors," he explained, "but now we're also providing information to visitors as well." The SBES web-site is now split into two parts, one providing information for exhibitors, the other providing information for potential visitors. To make things easy for visitors, the SBES web-site is now taking individual reservations. Advance registration is quick and easy (just follow the link from www.sbes.com/), it also avoids unwanted queuing on the day! All visitors will also receive a glossy colour show guide on arrival, which makes a handy reference guide to the industry for the subsequent year.
A third feature on the SBES web-site now focuses on a new feature for SBES 2006, the Broadcast Bionics 'FutureZone'. In addition to promoting its various broadcast telecommunications products, the company will also be offering SBES delegates the chance to attend a series of free of charge seminars on a variety of broadcast related topics. The concept behind the Broadcast Bionics FutureZone is to introduce forward thinking concepts in an unbiased and sales-free environment. In a series of 45 minute lectures, each including a 15 minute opportunity for questions and answers, leading industry figures will explain new and exciting concepts as well as various other topics of interest to sound broadcasting professionals. So far, the confirmed line up of speakers includes representatives from BT, Digigram, Audio TX, GCAP Media and Ofcom. Seating and space is limited at these seminars, so it's advisable to pre-book your seat on the Broadcast Bionics web site where more details can also be found.
This year's SBES is taking place in the Pavilion Suite of the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre. Getting to SBES is easy. The NEC is within walking distance of Birmingham International Rail Station and Birmingham International Airport is linked by a monorail shuttle to the railway station and from there it is a short stroll along a linking corridor to the NEC. The venue is also just minutes from the M6 and M42 motorways and well signposted. Once within the NEC complex, those arriving by car from the motorway network will be signposted to dedicated SBES parking. Once you're in the Pavilion Suite, the Point Promotions crew looks forward to welcoming returning and first time visitors alike to another successful SBES for 2006. If you haven't done so already – make a date in your diary now!
For more information about the 31st Sound Broadcast Equipment Show, visit the SBES web-site at: http://www.sbes.com/. If you're planning to stay overnight in the Birmingham area, SBES recommends the free Virtuoso hotel booking service which can also be accessed via the SBES web-site. Virtuoso Limited are the appointed hotel accommodation providers. The company has located several hotels in the area and arranged advantageous accommodation rates. Obviously, booking early gives the best chance of rooms being available at your preferred hotel!
