Turbosound at PLASA06

PLASA06 will once again see Turbosound demonstrating its commitment to providing ultimate quality loudspeakers for a wide range of applications. Products on show will include Aspect TA-890 touring and TA-880 installation products, the new wide dispersion TA-500 Aspect 3-way full range enclosure, the TSB-118 subwoofer and the TCS-C50T two-way ceiling speaker.

Aspect systems have proved their flexibility this summer on festivals and concert tours, from Dave Gilmour’s On An Island tour to a stunning performance by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon at Denmark’s most successful Roskilde festival to date.

The TA-500 is the latest addition to the highly acclaimed Aspect series, a trapezoidal, three way, full-range cabinet offering a dispersion pattern of 50° horizontal by 25° vertical, combined with medium throw characteristics. It features a similar driver complement, voicing and sharp coverage cut-off to the narrower dispersion TA-880 products, allowing the two types of cabinet to be arrayed together, seamlessly creating a smooth and phase coherent wavefront. Initially available in fixed installation format, fully equipped touring and digitally self-powered variants will be available later in 2006.

Designed both for installation and portable sound use, the TSB-118 single 18" compact bandpass subwoofer employs a single 600W RMS 18” driver in a bandpass designed enclosure. Tuned to provide a frequency response of 35Hz to 150Hz, the TSB-118 is a perfect complement to QLight and TCS series enclosures. The cabinet comes with stacking feet and a pole holder as standard, with an optional wheelboard for portable use.

For the voice evacuation, paging and background music markets, the TCS-C50T 5” two-way ceiling speaker is designed to give extremely high quality audio in a high power, 75W rms, ceiling speaker package.

Compliant with BS5839-8 and IEC/EN60894 Voice Evacuation standards, the TCS-C50T is moulded in paintable ABS plastic, with perforated steel grille and optional steel back can. It employs a 5” low frequency driver with a soft dome tweeter to give an extremely consistent 180° conical dispersion.

Connections are on a Phoenix-style removable screw terminal connector via a covered cable clamp, with an additional thermal fuse to minimise the chance of short circuit failure in the event of fire. Available in 16 ohm and 70/100V line transformer versions, ceiling support tile bridges are optionally available.

“We’ve had a very good response to all our new products since their launch at Pro Light + Sound earlier this year,” says sales director Rik Kirby. “The TSB-118 and TCS-C50T demonstrate our commitment to continually re-evaluating and updating our product ranges.
