A Second Innovation Award for Pharos at PLASA
For the second year running, Pharos Architectural Controls received an Award for Innovation from the PLASA judges. The 2005 award for the Lighting Playback Controller (LPC) was followed last week with an Innovation award for the Audio Visual Controller (AVC) debuting at the 2006 show.
A compact, solid state device, the AVC offers functionality equivalent to two DVD players and a vision mixer, with additional live input, all under integrated show control. AV clips, transitions and effects are programmed quickly and easily via the Pharos Designer software. An internal realtime and astronomical clock along with a bi-directional RS232/RS485 serial port provide triggering options for standalone operation. The AVC combines seamlessly with the Pharos LPC as the second half of a complete control solution providing lighting, audio, video and show control for architectural installations.
All forms of themed entertainment installation will benefit from the compact, yet powerful solution the AVC offers. It is particularly well suited for handling interactive video presentations in retail or museum environments. In the words of PLASA’s Award for Innovation judges, ‘It will no doubt be coming soon to a store near you!’
PLASA ’06 was a great success all round for Pharos. Liz Cecil, Pharos product manager, remarked: “We’d like to thank all the customers and dealers who took the time to visit us. We had great fun with our interactive stand, showing examples of the unusual and interesting ways our products are being used, including the very popular colour-changing fridge demonstration.”
The week also saw the completion of two more landmark Pharos installations - the exterior lighting for the Stockholm Globen and the renovation of the lighting for the Los Angeles International airport gateway.
