Sunbaba Wrap Buses for National Youth Theatre

As part of their 50 year anniversary The National Youth theatre celebrated with a series of productions and free events, headed by ‘God Save the Queen’, which featured 2000 performers on the steps of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square.

The stage set was created with two huge branded screens, wrapped around two double decker buses, which with limited space in the square acted as recording and production areas for the event, aswell as two stage scrims to frame the actors on the steps.

The six huge PVC screens were printed with striking ‘sex pistols’ styled imagery, and accompanied by six 3.37m x 1.78m Ultramesh branded heras fencing banners which screened the other production areas around the site.

The theatrical piece charted the development of teen culture from the grim abstention of the fifties to the alco-pop excess of the present, written by the creator of the BBCs ‘Flash Mob Opera’ and ‘The Manchester Passion’.
