PSCo Provides Heavyweight Service
PSCo has been awarded the contract to manage the installations of the world’s biggest plasma screen. The product is now available for in sale and hire in the UK.
When the world’s largest plasma screen went on display at John Lewis Oxford Street this December it became obvious this was not something the average customer will be able to pop in their shopping trolley. The Panasonic 103” Plasma screen has an RRP £50,000, measures about eight foot wide and may require structural work to your home if you wish to wall mount it.
PSCo has been awarded the position of Panasonic’s UK Support Partner for the 103” plasma screen. The company was responsible for fitting the screen in John Lewis, and will mount the vast majority of screens bought by the public and trade in whichever penthouse, boardroom or venue requires it.
The John Lewis installation was unusual in that it was mounted using temporary truss, as PSCo’s technical manager, Ed Martin, explains. “Normally it would be lifted by the bottom edge from a custom-built flight case.” Logistics and time meant that the install had to be carried out using equipment designed for the rental market.
When the screen is mounted in private properties, however, the specialist installation team will be required to make a site visit to ensure that the proposed position is structurally strong enough to take the apparatus and that the property is sufficiently accessible.
PSCo are already reporting massive interest for the screen in the UK, where it has begun to appear at high profile events and exhibitions, including its first outing at the 75th anniversary of Abbey Road Studios.
