Making an Impact with Harman
Impact Products pro-audio and lighting have taken the market by storm. In only nine months, this new company is already on course for sales of £2.5 million. Not bad when you consider they only started trading in January of this year. So what’s their secret?
Impact manager Keith Williams explains: “Harman have been a really good distributor and have supported us very well from day one because they like the fact we do things differently. Service is the most important thing. You’ve got to be competitive price-wise but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter if you saved a couple of pounds if you’ve been given bad service.”
Aided by Harman Pro UK, Impact have quickly built up a reputation for exceptional service. Every depot and workstation is networked via their Northampton base and every delivery is tracked by satellite. Keith reveals: “We’ve got double-shift warehousing; we’ve always got people in both early and late, so even up to 5:30pm, we’ll still take orders for next day delivery.” Offering a personalised service has been key to Impact’s success. When identifying the audio requirements of one of Guildford’s largest theatres, Keith reveals: “I said, ‘Would it help if we brought a desk down to you?’ So we spoke to Harman who said, ‘No problem’ and delivered a desk here which we took down to the customer.” This 48-channel Soundcraft MH4 was later purchased by the satisfied customer.
Part of the Solutions Group, who specialise in broadcast media, Impact have this to say about their successful relationship with Harman: “They’ve got people there who are very technical and whenever we’ve had to ask them a particular question like ‘Will this do this job?’ they’ve always been able to come up with good constructive advice. They give us the absolute best service, backup and competitive pricing that we could expect.”
