Open House – Stratford Illuminated by Martin Architectural

The annual Open House London event takes place each September where over 600 buildings of design excellence open their doors at no charge to the public, with 360,000 visits over a 48 hour period. This year it took place at Stratford International on the 12th September.

The 2007 reception was particularly significant because of its location, and in the spirit of Open House London, it gave guests one of the first previews of this new transport hub at the heart of Stratford’s massive regeneration project. This year the Rt Hon Tessa Jowell MP, Minister for the Olympics and London, joined the party to show her support and officially launch the event.

It was sponsored by Westfield and hosted by London and Continental and the London Borough of Newham with lighting by Martin Architectural. The lighting used was Cyclo 03 IP65s, Exterior 200s and MAC 700 profiles.

The director of the event, Victoria Thornton thanked Martin Architectural for their participation, “they created a very stylish space through the lighting effects in such a challenging space, and at such short notice.”

The aim of the event is to bring together Open House's stakeholders - the key London architectural practices who participate in the weekend and work with them throughout the year, including MAKE, Fosters and Partners, Fletcher Priest, BDP plus the younger up and coming practices like AOC etc. plus building owners, developers, the property sector, local authority planning councillors, leaders of councillors and corporate sponsors and partners such as such as Stanhope plc, Derwent London, and the British Council of Offices to celebrate Open House London and network.
