Roundhouse Keeps on Rolling with Showsec
The iconic London venue, the Roundhouse in Camden, has chosen to retain Showsec as its crowd management partner. The venue, which earned its place in rock and pop history in the late 1960s, hosting early shows by the likes of Pink Floyd and The Doors, has become a resurgent force in live music since it re-opened in 2006 after a £30.2 million redevelopment.
In the last 12 months it has hosted such prestigious events as the BBC Electrical Proms (which this year features Sir Paul McCartney, the Kaiser Chiefs, David Arnold and Mark Ronson), as well as a regular programme of about 80 high profile concerts per year.
Showsec is to be sole provider of crowd management and backstage security services to all concerts at the venue.
“We are delighted to be renewing our relationship with the Roundhouse,” says Showsec’s London area manager, Steve Reynolds. “The new contract is in line with our policy of developing long term partnerships with venues. The Roundhouse is one of London’s premier venues, welcoming a large number of visiting promoters, and we are proud that it should have demonstrated such confidence in our service.”
“We were looking for consistency of service and a high level of professionalism,” says Saul Hopwood, the Roundhouse’s operations director. “We have worked well with Showsec since the re-launch of the venue: they have shown a commitment to high standards and we are pleased to renew our relationship with them.”
