Stage One at Liverpool FC TV Station

Liverpool Football Club’s brand new dedicated TV station, LFC TV, launched with its first broadcast on 20th September 2007 and set and scenery contactors, Stage One, were involved after LFC TV and award winning production designer Nick King asked them to build the entire studio set.
Located in a former Bryant and May match factory, the state-of-the-art 80 square metre studio was designed to give each programme a distinctive look and feel. Stage One started by laying a laminated floor, which was inlaid with stainless steel strips, helping to separate the space into several distinct areas.
In Centre studio, a seating area was constructed, comprising of a four-metre diameter manual revolve upon which was sited four light boxes, two custom-built settees (in LFC red of course) and an elegant Perspex and laminate central table.
In order to provide a variety of backgrounds for the various camera angles, Stage One also built three carousels, positioned at various points across the studio. Each three-and-a-half metre carousel is three-faced: the first contains three plasma screens, the second containing a decorative sculptural feature and the third face is a flat laminated wall.
A formal news desk, capable of being divided into two sections and with an attached light box was built at one end of the studio, to the rear of which Stage One constructed a frosted Perspex, laminated backing structure.
Finally, the company provided a further eight light boxes, all with permanent graphics applied. Four of the light boxes are static and four capable of trucking, the latter with a tab track and Chromakey tab drape to the rear.
“Liverpool Football Club is internationally renowned and it has been a great pleasure to work with both them and Nick King on this venture,” said Rob Green, project manager, Stage One. He added: ”We wish them all the very best for the TV station and its future success.”
