The Force Behind The Rhythm
The Corp of Army Music based at Kneller Hall held a festival for the general public, 16 bands performed with music ranging from the Grenadier Guards marching band to the Army Corp Big Band and supported by rock and pop bands from the ranks. Sigma AV Ltd were contracted by Qube Productions to supply an Outline 'Butterfly' line array for the event. Two hangs of 10 CDH483's coupled with two Outline 'Subtech' subwoofers per side were used, infill used was two Outline 'Doppia' 9075's. Engineer was Kevin Swain using a Yamaha M7CL 48. On stage Outline’s HARD 212 SP's and 115 SP's were used for stage monitoring.
Kevin states: “This was my first outing with 'Butterfly'. The first thing that amazed me was the size and ease of rigging, then there is the performance: I can say this system has no competition, it’s very powerful, the hi's are so clean and the ingenious mechanical lo-mid section of the cabinet couples perfectly with the twin eighteens. We had 6000 people attend this show and I was running the desk at -15dB, so much headroom. Other comments from the public were all very positive, saying it was the best sound they have heard for many a year. The congratulations also came thick and fast from Major Wayne (Royal Corp of Music) who was in charge of the event and Major Sir Philip Shannon MBE was completely stunned by Outline’s quality and performance. Paul Pinto of Qube Productions said: “We have now seen the light!”
