Vari*Lite Lights Budapest’s WestEnd City Center

Budapest’s WestEnd City Center is Central Europe's largest and arguably most impressive shopping mall. Developed by Canada's TrizecHahn corporation, the award winning architecture is both futuristic and imposing.
Vari*Lite distributor Chromatica was recently asked to suggest a lighting solution to light up the roof - as part of the closing ceremony of the national holiday. The brief incorporated producing WestEnd gobos to be projected and moving on parts of the steel structure - and on to the ground.
Chromatica’s Imre Makkay explains: “The client was looking for a professional solution, so there was no question of what fixture would be used. We covered the VL2500 spots in outdoor protection bulbs to ensure long-term reliability in extreme outside weather conditions.”
The projection precision from the position of the fixtures is very impressive and VL2500 spots light up the roof to stunning effect with projected gobos against the black sky.
Anyone who missed the opening show, can now enjoy the spectacle every night after dark.
