A.C. Lighting Becomes A Patron of The British Racing Drivers’ Club

Entertainment technology supplier A.C. Lighting has been welcomed as a BRDC Rising Star Patron of the British Racing Drivers’ Club.

Formed in the late 1920s, the BRDC is the champion of British motor sport and owner of the Silverstone Racing Club, the home of British motor sport and centre of international motor sport.

Regarded as the most prestigious racing club in the world, the exclusive membership includes F1 World Champions and those who have obtained international success over a number of seasons, or made a significant contribution to the sport. Every British or Commonwealth World Champion is, or has been in their lifetime, a full member of the Club.

As part of the scheme, promising young British drivers will benefit from A.C. Lighting’s BRDC patronage. With its emphasis on cutting-edge new technologies, the sport provides a natural affinity with A.C.’s own product solutions and a dynamic environment for networking opportunities.

A.C. Lighting has strong links with the world of motor sport and is currently a sponsor of the Arden International racing team in the GP2 European & Asian Series. The company’s roots in motor sport go back to managing director David Leggett’s early life revolving around karting and psychedelic lightshows. A decision had to be made between motor sport or lighting - and lighting was David’s decision.

Since he made that choice he has built the A.C. Lighting Group up to be a leading international supplier, manufacturer and distributor of cutting-edge entertainment technology solutions with an annual turnover of approaching £40 million, supplying equipment to clients in over 80 countries worldwide. The company’s Special Projects division has an impressive track record of providing bespoke lighting solutions for leading clients, including the Victoria & Albert Museum’s John Madejski Garden, Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower, and the BT Tower.

David Leggett commented: “A.C. Lighting is extremely proud to be selected as a BRDC Rising Stars Patron. We are proud to be associated with an industry that harnesses the very best technologies available to deliver dynamic and exciting entertainment-value – something that fits with our own industry clients’ needs. It’s also a privilege to help the career of young British driving talent and be associated with the world’s most prestigious racing club.”
